Dude, I so agree. After trying out a load of different apps, and trying to make the most of TweetDeck, I've abandoned all and use Hooties iPhone and web-based tag tream of doom for all my tweeting needs. Manage clients account, coordinating with staff for replies and content disbursement, all super sweet.
Now if only Hootie can help me actually attract 100,000+ followers as easily.

I like hootsuite, but I hate the ow.ly url shortener. I even refuse to click or retweet ow.ly links.

Have you tried CoTweet or SproutSocial? I've used all three and these days I'm leaning more toward SproutSocial. You might want to check it out. By the way, I don't work for any of these companies.

I tried CoTweet a LONG time ago and at that time I didn't find anything about it that I preferred over Hootsuite. However I may re-visit it now that Hootsuite has gone premium and you get less features. Haven't tried SproutSocial yet, but I plan to – thanks for the tip!
